Nobody ever wants to talk about the famines under capitalism, and famine isn't an inherent characteristic to capitalism any more than it is socialism.

A lot of them do that, the food bank I used to go to every Saturday was mostly supplied by grocers.

Sometimes the issue is more logistical. Like, how does this one 75 year old woman carry sixty pounds of refrigerated food for two hours on the city bus to get home? Lots of the folks we met lived in their cars, can they cook food at all? Can those who need food even get to the site where it is being distributed? Can we verify that this family needs two dozen bags of diapers and isn’t just selling it for cash to their neighbors?

Critique of capitalism must be systemic and comprehensive. It’s really goddamn complex, especially with sprawling American car-focused cities like Atlanta or Houston

We absolutely do. Is the existing aid we give being distributed equitably? If you are starting a shirt company in Mozambique, does the six tons of free t-shirts the USA just dropped off represent a threat to that plan or a benefit?

We do have a duty to help economies we had a hand in ruining, but that isn’t unique to the USA.
