Serious question: Why does he have a hyphenated last name? Bankman-fried? Did his mom remarry and then he assumed her hyphenated name instead of his dad's name or wtf?

Could be either of those reasons. Some times people dont want to drop their last name, say it was attached to their business etc and contained all the "power" of the family/legacy. That name might be 1000 years old or something and they can trace it back to whatever and whenever.

Check out the Heinz family. They do that kind of stuff.
