Really appreciate all the help. I'll check that in a second.

I just started over....the patcher is telling me my game files are updated before I patched....went into advanced tools or whatever....it's checking my actual current live directory (not C:/EQMac)....C:/Program Files/Sony Online Entertainment/Installed Games/EverQuest is what it's looking at. I'm guessing it thinks it's patched because it patched all that before.

Do I need to point it to the eqmac directory? How?

No administrator mode. Just has selectable compatability modes for older operating systems

Correction....that was an error message there when I tried to hit PLAY.

But why else would it think everything on a fresh install was patched, unless it previously patched my actual legit EQ files and that's what it's looking at?

This is confusing as shit.

edit: I followed the instructions from the FOH website and they have you apply secrets patch after everything else. Same thing still happening.

I'm still getting "EQW must run in 16 or 32 bit display mode". My computer's settings is 32 bit, but idk what the EQ is set at or how to change it.

you can change EQ's color depth via eqclient.ini

I hate to feel so clueless, because i'm generally good at solving issues like this. But i searched the eqclient.ini and eqw.ini for "color" and anything that looked like it would involve changing the color depth but I couldn't.

Where in the eqclient file is this changed?

Thanks again for all the help

scroll down to [VideoMode] and make sure you have BitsPerPixel=16

Fixed it...I run P99 via wineq2 to fix the multicore issues....it stays up in the tray even when you log out and I guess that was conflicting.

Now just gotta figure out how to get this thing fullscreen and at a modern resolution.
