You know how I know it's the end times? The next generation of big young actors simply doesn't exist. Couldn't even remake glorious fun 90's slop like Independence Day or Forrest Gump if we wanted to because there is no successor to Will Smith or Tom Hanks.... much less the masterpieces.

You know how long it's been since I've seen a fucking new movie? Looking back at the 90's, now, is starting to feel like this

Music sucks too in comparison and there's no excuse for that. It's easier than ever, if you make great music, to get it on the market.

What the fuck happened in the late 2010's?

What I really think is that only sicko's that want to abuse power can make real art.

there's still good shit out there, it's just drowned out by capeshit and cash-cow remakes. eddington was a great movie.

it does seem like damn near every star under 40 is just some rich asshole's kid these days, though. nepo babies annoy me unless it's a sports dynasty. and even then, arch manning is pretty irritating.

maybe the world is the same as it's always been and we're just becoming crabby old men, screaming at the kids to gtfo my lawn.

long story short: streaming services, social media and influencers. they all muddied the waters of classic hollywood era. i actually have pretty comprehensive thoughts on this topic, but its early and i havent had a full cup of coffee yet. but thats the short story of it

it is the same as its ever been. the ancient greek thinkers from 2000+ years ago had these same thoughts about the cult of personality and demagoguery and people who wish to take advantage of the fact that we are all dumb ass primates and were not as smart as we think we are.

Unfortunately children watching live streamers is not the same as children watching Looney Tunes and the munsters.

Creativity is dead.

Well you know what happened to Greece? It collapsed, half the worlds population died, and writing disappeared for centuries during the “Greek Dark Ages.”

What happens when Greece is armed with nukes and it collapses?

My science teacher blew my mind as a kid with this awesome video called Greece: How we could have lived among the stars.

And it was about how if Greece never collapsed, we'd be living on different planets right now [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I've definitely had this thought too. I think the world's the same in the manner of... there are always renaissances and dark times, and it seems I was lucky enough to grow up at the tail end of a renaissance.
