So Tuna, remember those airliners that flew into buildings? One of 'em even crashed in a field somewhat close to where I live in PA.

That was the narrative used to invade Afghanistan. Go attack people who attacked us. I can accept that, regardless of hidden agendas. Things like this are also a flex to the world about our military prowess. Sometimes you just have to "show the flag."

The problem with imperialism in Afghanistan is its not very profitable. It's too easy for China, Russia, to fuck with our assets even by proxy. And we still would have fueled the Talibans bloodshed and Propoganda.

Tbqh they're probably better off with private military and Chinese fueling their economy so the Taliban only has a historical "the usa left leverage".

I dislike Biden. I disagree with his covid policy and the milquetoast oligarchism he promotes in order to stay in power for a cut of government contracts. I do however think the world is going to be better off without our mismanaged military industry testing targeting systems on hillbillies.

If with all of our training, equipment, air support and other support, the afghan army that we set up can't hold back some ragtag dudes with just light arms, then why should we care?

I read something that described how Afghan soldiers would be issued orders, and then go check with village elders or religious leaders about whether or not they should carry out those orders.
