Thank you for clarifying that point about community adhesion. I think I got caught up in the alarmist socialism = inevitable communism definition someone put up earlier.
You do realise that with socialised health care available you can still chose to use private alternatives? And even within the socialised health care system you would have redundancy in which doctors you could use?

Well there are plenty of arguments there. People from all other world come to the US to work in the healthcare system. We have a large number of people from India, Middle East, all over the world. The reason for this is because the pay rate is determined by the market of what someone wants to pay for a doctor. If the government were to tell them they are on a socialized program, they decide the rate of their pay. This stops people from wanting to come to America for their opportunity of a good life due to years of schooling. This also puts us on the cutting edge of medicine.
In our system, they are advocating for government selected pay system. Since they are looking to reduce costs and socialize everyone for healthcare, they will pick your doctor and the rate the doctor will be paid at a convenience to the government to make sure the program is working and so you aren't driving 2 hours away to a doctor 5x the cost because you make more.
There are advocates for a mixed system. The problem with that is I work in risk management for an insurance company. Insurance is always a pool with either profit or loss. Losses are always changing. While the rich would be paying in more to help offset what the poor can't afford, it's always the question of at what curve? What adjustments do you need to make? Insurance is never great at this unless they are just charging a very high premium to cover any future losses. It's basically a business and the people always do those better. Can look up the private police force in Texas I cited earlier, our USPS system is terrible and considered one of the worst for shipping, prison systems are underfunded, education is underfunded, infrastructure is underfunded, can go on and on.
