I do not have kids and I was not duped into that. I just never understood the appeal. I disliked being a kid. I do have three tattoos and have done a lot of drugs.

I just don’t think we’re all supposed to be rich. I lived a shitty average suburban life until decades of investing paid off when real estate in Texas and the stock market paid off. Dumb luck, but I’ve always been responsible. This has always happened though in the US to those who are responsible. The market and real estate prices have gone up since WW2. This isn’t a secret, nor is it exclusionary. I think it’s a you can bring a horse to water but can’t force it to drink situation, /shrug
That said, if someone wants to throw $300 billion out equitable through the child tax credit or similar programs and pay for it by raising my taxes by 5%, sure, why not. I just don’t see it leading to parents demanding straight A’s and paying for piano lessons, which would lead to children capable of improving their own material condition
