The only way the democrats will weather this storm in the next election will be due to tribalism, this is a catastrophic failure of global politics.

The idea that our top men thought that the heroin addict army they piecemealed together from homeless people was going to be able to stand up against an enemy that nukes and f-15's couldnt defeat for 20 years just shows massive incompetence.

I posted a VICE video about afganastan from 2 years ago last night, and the guy they were interviewing said literally:

"we're not going to be leaving military equipment behind for the taliban to take over, we've made those mistakes in the past and we know better now"

What did we do? exactly that.

It shows that we knew better yet someone effed up royally. And it's going to be very easy in election season to point at the person who was in charge.
