Older generations always think that about younger ones, but I generally try to keep generational discourse limited because it's just more subdivision of society. That being said, I think they're on the right track to get at root causes by being skeptical of capitalism, collectively. I will beat this dead horse for all time. It's probably the root cause of those things you see as flaws, too.

Not claiming they're perfect. There's always examples of bad behavior in any large group of people.

I think it's this specific point that makes the brewing American form of fascism a lot more dangerous than the German version, long term.

And me griping about American stuff isn't to say that I think there's no racism in China, or whatever other large country. I've been to dozens of countries and seen some shit that wouldn't fly in America.

The thing is - if America were founded today, there'd be reactionary forces in, like, the UK that would call it a 'woke utopian pipe dream' or some clever British version of that sentence. What we see as 'woke culture' in America is the same basic concept that this country was founded on, it's just the modern version.

I've said it a million times, but this is the perverse incentive structure that comes with forming a political identity around "fighting for rights" or "equity" or "progress" or whatever nice-sounding mission you have, especially if your meal ticket involves these topics. If you make money fighting for equality, you have a perverse incentive to ignore when equality is occurring or has already occurred. Nobody wants to put themselves out of a job, we get it.
