No. Begging the question would be a statement like: he is not witty because his statements lack wit. It's an informal fallacy. It does not mean nearly the same thing as raising the question.

lily i assume you are attracted to me because you are biologically programmed to want the popular, powerful, witty alpha male in the group so he can protect your offspring. While i appreciate this, im not sure if its an appropriate reason to have a crush on me.
