SOE knows whats good for profits, which is what a business aims for above all else. Theyre constantly adapting their methods to draw in a bigger fanbase for the sake of more money. If they have to go to path of WoW to appease lazy people, thats what they'll do. They had a good thing going, but killed in for the sake of a dollar.

It's not canon, EQ1-2 don't exist anymore it's a complete reboot. So far High Elves are the evil race in the books.

They learned magic and lorded over all the other races they are racist and have slaves and shit. The dragons kept to themselves until high elves started experimenting them and then they started a war and drove all the playable races off antontica to kunark.

The game starts years later with them coming back.

Dark elves don't exist yet in the book but a group of high elf warriors got trapped in a portal with a black dragon they where trying to kill and got ported to some sort of dimession that sounds like hate plan. I bet they turn into inkies because one of them was named lanys tyvil
