on my very first toon ( a barb sham ) I was ready to make the run to the freeport area from the halas / qeynos area, soon as i zone into WK I see that monk that paths around there, and my buddy I am with decides we should kill it, as he dies he fires off some line about his friends or brothers finding me and avenging his death.

I thought for a solid 2 weeks that a mob of pissed off monks were going to show up out of no where and kill me to avenge their fallen friend and everywhere I went I was super careful and always on the look out for them.

I always believed that if I were in melee combat that I had a better chance to hit if I were on the higher ground than my target. I still rotate around to be uphill if I'm not fighting in a flat area.

Heh.

On my very first toon I busted my balls I'd say for 2 weeks to get a Gnoll Slayer thinking it was carnage incarnate. Found out once I actually got it that my PGT and Short Sword of Morin were far better.

Even though I now KNOW it has no bearing on miss rates, I still swing around to get on higher ground when I melee.

Conversely, I always click off levitate before entering melee. I guess I'm superstitious.

OMG I forgot all about that. So many people believed that was true! As a ranger I remember being asked to use harmony.

If you kept the first cabbage you foraged from the Karanas in an inventory slot (not bag) you would have better luck.

Long after I knew better I continued to keep it with me "just in case". The cabbage traveled with me through just about every raid zone until the end of PoP.

Did you know later this old player's tale was used tongue-in-cheek by the developers (some of whom played back then) to decide on a name for 'Protection of the Cabbage'? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I remember people believing that gnomes ran faster than everyone else. I dont know how many times that it's just an optical illusion. And gnomes suck.

That is an interesting bit of lore, although I had never heard of the cabbage thing.
