I prefer pvp games, just not when it messes with my pve time. I'll stick to daoc type pvp. Was funny seeing the rogue run in and smash that dirty gnome though.

That's just an incredibly ignorant opinion. While you might be right regarding the PvP balance in Everquest, to say that PvP in EQ is intrinsically pointless only means that you don't understand the appeal. While I agree it's a better PvE game, the addition of PvP makes makes an otherwise stale endgame incredibly dynamic. On blue we run off of a script on any given encounter and the only spice we get is bad players and guilds breaking rules. Red has the potential for constant change, depending on who wants to ruin your day, and that is quite honestly fun.
Great post.

Wholeheartedly agree.

You can make an argument that games in general are pointless. The amount of strategy and knowledge of game mechanics it takes to PvP in dangerous places is a big reason for why people play here. It adds a dynamic where you're forced to think on your feet far more than on blue. You're far more engaged - you have a separate window on your UI dedicated to /who, which is bound to your movement keys because of the need to know when potential PvP zones in. People actually need to know what Crystallized Pumice and Crimson Potions are used for. Buff order actually matters (SoW and Levitate bottom slotted at all times). Lots of little particulars about this game blue players wouldn't even think to do are really useful on a PvP server. Shield of the Immaculate on a 60 Enchanter is devastating in PvP. Rogue poisons actually matter. Sunstrike only lands on well geared toons after someone is maloed. You often need to click off buffs when anticipating a spell you want to dispel off of yourself immediately so that it doesn't bottom slot under all your important buffs.

It's not really any surprise that 80% of the people who give this server a shot at the endgame stay here.

Sure, there are plenty who "try" it and run into a shitty player with shitty intentions which results in a shitty first experience at really low levels. But by and large, that's not what you find here.

These types of fights happen daily here.

Problem is RF is 99% of everyone who find oneself back there is using autofire and clicking upto 1000X a second afk.

Making an NPC who eats the pearl while rage is down would be preffed fixed, BUT would also work is making his spawn area PVP abled so those who like to afk autofire can be delt with.

PvP is the greatest solution for the poop socking of timers all day long. You get to be online less, have more time for other shit, etc. Everquest was always a time sink, but you're seriously out of control when you're doing it like blue. That's got to be so painstakingly boring. Come to red, sleep more, and if someone contests, you fight for it.

Doesn't Red have an unclassic Ragefire that's an exact 24 hour timer?

Most people found project1999 because they want to play classic, or as close as possible.

Ain't much classic about the ezmode pvp server
