I recall doing guards in ak`anon at 56 on a shm, a long time ago. I cant quite recall which areas were best tho....would need to scout it out, to avoid gm mobs

I'm speaking as a Shaman, but there's a great lesser-known place no one mentioned that would likely work for Necros: Neriak Foreign Quarter.
There's one Ogre Shadow Knight named Jacker who is by himself, and you can basically AFK kill him as long as you avoid (or also kill) a wandering green guard. Just be sure to root him and move around a corner so he can't cast on you. If you don't want to AFK then there's a bunch of Ogre and Troll warriors inside the arena that you can also kill. They have way too many hit points and no loot (I keep meaning to file a bug to get them itemized) but it's peaceful XP that almost no one uses (and even if they do, between Jacker and the arena mobs there's enough for at least three people). One strange side effect: the arena mobs are the queen's faction, so if the dark elves hate you already then you can actually improve your faction with half of them (the king's group) by killing stuff there.
