They don't Jav throw anymore, Redi. Now, they sit at a spawn point for 20 hours repeatedly casting and ducking CoTh.

PvP on one side.

Petitions, tracking, variance, rule lawyering and absurd GM rulings on the other. I know which one I'm picking every time.

PvP is scary the first few times you do it. So is training fear for a CT engage. Or running up to pull Phara Dar with everyone counting on you. It gets easier each time you do it and eventually becomes the most fun part of the game.
Why is this always the response? I've never liked PvP combat in MMO games. Has nothing to do with it being "scary" or "hard" etc, it's just not appealing to me. The older I get, the less desire I have to partake in it as well.

I'm glad there are people that enjoy it, and certainly happy that you folks have the option to do so. But why is it so hard to accept that there are those of us that simply don't care for it? And yes, I tried it back on PvP servers waaaaaaay back in the day for EQ. It was just meh to me.

So you basically said "git guud"

It still doesn't answer my question of what happens when you cap out and Empire is the barrier? Is "get better" still applicable? That's going to be the mindset of people coming from blue. If anything this is an advertisement for Empire life. High end uncontested raiding on a friendly schedule with PvP in your spare time wearing best in slot gear. That's the allure of red. Troubledour told me so.
Ew gross I never mentioned anything about pvp.

A blue startup could overcome Empire's advantage with sheer numbers. Honestly, the quality of a person's gear doesn't matter hugely when it comes to mass PvP - it's all dispell via pumice and golem wand, lures, tstaffs, and windstrikers. A blue startup would have the opportunity to farm all of these items with near impunity. Even people with poor Everquest skills and even worse PvP skills can learn to be 90% as effective as the best PvPers very quickly by learning to assist the MA, spam a pumice, and then follow up with whatever role they fulfill. There's a certain point where the numbers overwhelm the advantage, and this threshold decreases as your players' skills improve. Empire is still going very strong, but you would be coming in at a time when we're not always at our strongest - it's just the nature of the game that people start to fizzle out, though our leaders have done a nice job recruiting. Being a part of a #2 guild attempting to give the #1 a run for their money is one of the most rewarding experiences playing Everquest, I think. Starting on red would be a great opportunity for a credible group of people to grit their teeth and muster up some strategery and make some plays.

But that's the problem.. if BDA (hypothetically) decided to move over, how many of their 150 members would quit or change guilds on blue? Probably lots.. pvp just doesn't appeal to many people and Red's had a huge stigma for years now.

The most realistic scenario is what TMO tried to do and failed. Don't see any guild bringing over 'overwhelming numbers'.

more likely that a very good number of the BDA members would just join empire eventually.

I would bet 90% of all blue converts are in empire.

just look at this thread for proof.

There were only about 12 people who were not playing red at all and joined up with <TMO> and they still accomplished an incredible amount. If their leadership hadn't stopped logging in they would still be the undisputed #2 guild. If they had brought 50 they would be going back and forth for #1 in my opinion.

did TMO declare victory when they lost on red or only when they lost on blue?
