Has anyone looked into how this behaved classically? If it was a static spawn on a set timer then keep it that way and add an FTE message. Some research is needed.

You know what else would be a good catch? implementing engage messages on obvious quest cockblock mobs that have no variance.

I called it on the Scout way early in Beta, and I am saying it again here - please consider it.


Classically I doubt we will have much information, most stuff ive read about the quest has Yael as the mob always down or hard to get, almost every write up talks about how you can "simply find the Guardian roaming around" and rarely had to camp it. People just didnt go after mobs that werent part of a quest they were actively completing.

So while its fun to bask in the glory of completing the first one and making this encounter a shit show, lets move forward and get this as a workable quest people dont need a ledger of rules to compete with.

Please stay on topic, I removed it bc it wasnt relevant. This isnt RnF, no need to quote it and derail. Not only did I call myself out but I edited out the inappropriate content, I can police myself ty.

I will see if I can find any info about the Guardian's spawn locations and whether they were ever random but I highly doubt we will find much substance. I think we just need an unclassic engage message as much as that sucks to say.

We will also probably need similar shit added to the Chardok Ring/Wacked Cord quest - several turn ins require air clicking and I assume it could result in eaten turn ins if done simultaneously.

Either it's a camp like stormfeather, or a pet attack spam-fest like lodizal.

A GM/Dev ruling along with a FTE shout would be greatly appreciated.

AT the beginning of velious he did. Sirken ruled it was a camp and removed the FTE message though.

He used to when there were 10 people socking the spawn point, they changed it to a camp and removed the FTE shout.

Now you must maintain a presence there throughout the window or you lose your spot at the camp.

Stormfeather has variance and skips spawns though, so he naturally will weed through people contesting due to infrequency of the spawns, the Guardian is a static on the nose 5 day spawn that literally anyone with a ToD can show up to with little to no planning or effort. This is why we cant simply arbitrate this with /rolling bc people will never stop showing up and /rolling, it will be a never ending line of people selling their /random or the loot rights.

This just needs yellow text like Lodizal and may the the luck of the draw secure the engage. If you dont get yellow, back off and try again in 5 days. Simple.

The quest itself is working, but the experience getting to completion is no where near what was intended. That is the focus on this bug report fix.

Bump. another spawn, another 30+ people and no idea who got FTE without a lot of guessing... more and more people showing up every spawn.
