That's honestly one of the biggest things I missed when playing other games throughout the years - the words of EQ's bestiary and spells. They really got that right in my eyes.

I still think obtenebrate is the best eq word, great way for describing a neighborhood safe from eavesdroppers.

As someone who spent a few years working as a writing tutor / ghost writer for admissions stuff, you'd be amazed how bad people are on average. It's why employers were bitching to universities about how all their graduates were illiterate so most of them have writing exit exams now. Doubt most college students would know those words, but I think you know that and you're just looking for madz

If I wrack my brain, no, I learnt the word aura from Tiny Toon Adventures- How I Spent My Summer Vacation about 5-6 years before Everquest, but I don't think I understood it contextually until EQ.

My parents read to me as a kid but I didn't read anything that wasn't on the computer or assigned for school.

Yea, some of those words are weaker than others.
