I've been patiently waiting for years now :*( Literally years...... I quit after about 2 weeks into kunark on my main "Bashndash withyourcash" ogre warrior.
I don't just want vanilla EQ in my life, I need it haha. Sigh *goes and kicks rocks*

Eh, I don't really subscribe to or really even understand the whole refusal to accept help/items from higher level people, the refusal to twink characters to the teeth (which I do to an art, btw), etc.
I mean, sure, I remember joining a mid-20s/mid-30s venture to the little-explored Lower Guk back in '00, when the best geared warriors were in full Crafted and there were only a few level 50s on the entire server. We didn't make it to Lower Guk, by the way. We fought bravely, but alas, as we neared the corridor to the lower dungeons the frogloks were too many; our troll warrior brandished his two-handed axe, sacrificing himself so that we'd escape, but the swarm seemed endless. There's always something in the game that will kick your ass, at any level, regardless of how geared you are. If the game seems too easy to you, then you're simply not challenging yourself. If the game seems too easy for your group, then your group isn't challenging itself. Most groups are coasting groups. People generally don't want to do difficult things, they just want an even-paced stream of xp and loot, which is fine - sometimes that's all I'm after too, but I also consistently try challenging things either solo or by leading groups. Sometimes it results in failure and brutalizing CRs, sometimes it results in the best adrenaline-pumping experiences you can have in an MMO, with the xp and loot to match. It's always a question of attitude and playstyle, not of equipment. There is always something different and challenging to do, even on a top-heavy server like P99, and even at peak server populations. This also scales across the board, whether you're soloing, duoing, trioing, grouping, or raiding. Always.

Discord may have been the stupidest thing Verant/SOE did with EQ, tho that's a tough competition and there are other decisions rank down there at the bottom of the cesspit close to it. ... Green99 sounds like it could be great fun, hope to see it!

You do realize that p99 is moving towards the point of being almost as old now as LiveEQ was when p99 launched...
At some point, they are going to relaunch a new server (green) on a real time line with all the appropriate fixes that took years of play testing to correct. P99 will someday (hopefully soon) be nothing more than a glorious beta test of new EQ server. We all have differing points when we would get more enjoyment from playing a new server than continuing to play p99. Some of us were there three years ago. Some of us are getting there now. Some of us will be there in a year. IMO, the community is ready within the next year to sunset the current blue p99 server as the primary p99 experience in favor the "green" server. It doesn't mean having to destroy the current iteration of blue p99; blue and green can coexist. AFAIK, server staff has made clear that if/when green launches they have no plans to delete blue. All of it, of course, is limited the desire/ability of the staff to launch a new server. Even if blue were fully patched to the end (which it isn't yet) and they wanted to start a new server it doesn't necessarily mean that they would. Frankly, I've always been so impressed (and thankful!) that Rogean and Nilbog have stuck with this project through all the ups and downs over years and years. It wouldn't surprise me (and I wouldn't fault them) if they needed a well deserved break for their own sanity before jumping into another 8 years of commitment.

Even I forget that it's free, and that I have to do nothing to contribute to it's well-being. I guess it's good to remind myself of that when i am frustrated with the game. Honestly I don't find fault with the server or game so much as I do with the players who play here. Really only the players have made bad experiences here, not the faults of the game or the GMs etc.
