Not really. When you say 'this server' which one do you mean? red? blue? beta?

Personally on blue 99 I started with nothing a week ago and now i'm almost a 30 warrior, I approached it with the self-perception I was going to enjoy the game and have fun regardless of other people and their actions or opinions. When you're able to handle any situation with a certain level of awareness it doesn't really matter if people are RMT'ing MQ'ing within the game. I had people openly offer to sell me plat so I could buy gear and refused. You don't let it effect You.

With pay to play the server will eventually die, also classic.

Feign death wasn't intended as a splitting mechanic either, but people did it. Gnomes were not intended to see through walls, but they did. Dropped items weren't intended to function as compasses, but they did. Lots of things that the developers never intended to happen ^^, but they are classic.

The real issue though is that the idea of "No Drop" items is just plain ridiculous. It's a mechanic akin to instancing that descocializes aspects of the game by forcing players out of an immersive world and into a linear story with pre-determined outcomes.

Here's an audio excerpt that should help sum it up:

i think what he's getting at is, MQ's while classic, allows the RMTers to farm and sell the items to him for plat instead of getting a fair shot on it like on live.

during live, RMTers had multiple servers to share. you come to blue and there is an RMTer camping every important spot cock blocking. its not a joke its real lol i tried playing here. im not even joking go to orc 1 in WC and you will find a lvl 60 druid selling invites to the group. and they never leave. so i have to pick, grind on snakes that are anoying and non static spawns or somehow come up with 5k at lvl 8 to pay the guy.

This is like repeated every step of the way on this server its horrible experience. lol. but i do applaud the project creators its as close to classic as its going to get without a huge CS staff.

servers to old, its stale, its allowed a top heavy RMT economy to totally monopolize the entire server. i remember when it was just the important things like jboots you had to "pay plat for", quil cloaks, and fungi's and COF's and shit.

Now it is paying to join an exp group.

remember the good ole days when the only pay to play group was chardok? ever since the AE nerf EVERY single decent camp is now monopolized by pay to play. its seriously out of hand. and they are playing by the play nice policy. so the guides hands are tied. And there are simply to many people doing it for anyone with any real power to get around to it.

so thats what we got, make the best of it.
Also just wanted to point out that none of this is even remotely true. This is more than likely a case of a sour, disgruntled player who developed some personal beef with the server and now seeks retribution in the form of hugely exaggerated if not completely fabricated posts. The few remaining rogue RMTers have a completely negligible impact the server. You don't have to pay anyone anything to get a group at orc 1. The game is still more or less exactly how it's always been: top-heavy, but there's always something to do with loot and experience to be gained at every level. Anyone who tells you otherwise either isn't challenging himself or is simply bullshitting you about the state of the server for petty, vindictive reasons.

Also, this thread has a remarkably good title despite the illegible post. It's amazing that he was able to correctly type "EverMQuest", proper capitalization and all, and then proceed to projectile vomit all over the keyboard.
