I suspect that aspect of the naming policy is only as good as the knowledge of the folks charged with enforcing it. I've probably ran past a bunch of pokemon names in-game and I wouldn't recognize a one of 'em....had long since outgrown cartoons by the time that was a going concern, never watched it.

On live I used to roll new characters on some other server when my main server was down for whatever reason. I tried various legit non-troll names one time and all were rejected for like a 30 minute stretch. In frustration, I attempted "Effyougm" and it stuck. When I logged in, I got GM summoned to Qeynos catacombs within like 30 seconds and I got a 3 days suspension or some shit. The live servers name filters were really annoying. Even the random generator names would get rejected because they weren't removed from the list when a player actual took the name.

On live, name creation went through two fiters.
1. Verants offensive words and phrases filter, that was automatic
2. Active guides/gm's on the server would get a popup with the name and a yes/no confirmation

So your names being rejected for 30 minutes means some csr person kept clicking "no" until you got to your last proverbial drop of water that went over the edge.

I did that often in my 5 years of guiding, sticking around so i could refuse sone jackass trying to get a name mentioning tits through the filter.
