I think the prices on many legacy items (rubi, manastone) are driven by the idea that they will no longer exist.

Prices on spells/good items into velious are driven by limited supply.

I don't think anyone is playing as if sol ro isn't coming, they're playing as if the server will be stagnant in 3 years and trying to get to the top of the heap now.

Well sort of. The spawn isn't working as listed on the wiki for p99, and everyone that seems to know the mechanics are silent as fuck about specifics because they don't want anyone else in on the action.

True, although on a technical basis, if he finds buyers at 10k then the market is essentially setting the price itself. The issue with MMO economics that's slightly different from real world supply and demand is that in MMOs it's somewhat easy for people to farm millions of plat in relatively small periods of time, such that even when items are sold for exorbitant amounts, there's that 5% of the server or so who will always buy them. So you end up with the majority of the server being unable to buy many types of items, but the price doesn't come down because there are still whales who will always purchase.
