Played original AD&D (refuse to call it 1st edition) when it first came out in late 70's ...was in HS. My group played often(too often) until about the 2nd year of college. The friend who introduced me to the game still plays weekly with his friends. Most of them are my age an older( late 40's).'

I sat in on a few of their 2nd edition games long ago but did not find it as fun. Have been a spectator on 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0. The game is too bogged down with rules now IMO. It literally takes an hour or more to run one encounter. And they have brought computers and LCD projectors and other crap into it. Doesnt look like fun at all to me now.

I played on the same server as the guys and gals who wrote the EQ pen and paper game for D&D.

They were pretty amazing.

Definitely 3.0, although I of course modified the classes as I saw fit.

I haven't played 4.0

I played in high school - early 80s, we had a dungeons and dragons club where they let us use a classroom after school and we had a teacher as an advisor who would sometimes run dungeons.

I remember playing the D&D expert rules box set and AD&D. Whatever we played we roleplayed to the hilt. Those were good times.

Played a bit with some of those guys after college using newer edition rulesets. Didn't care much for how the game had changed but it was still fun to be rolling dice with old friends. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Play two Pathfinder games -- one a rogue (level 2) and one a cleric (level 6). Also play Mutants and Masterminds.

Will DnD PvP Open Soon? Seems like we need a Red Guildmaster / Dungeonmaster or whatever they are called.

yea, hah dnd pvp, it actually does exist, we had one of my pops friends and his son that played, the kid is 13 or something like that, and another friend of mine that decided to stop playing with us

but, my rangers name is turambar, i tried to use that name here but the name thing for eq would'nt allow it, or finwe either, but i sort of role play my wood elf ranger as a jokester, as i was tracking down orcs for the group, i found some pixies instead, it was me and our cleric on horse back, and these pixies decided to attack us, so i killed them all and recieved pixie dust, or some sort of powder that makes one drowsy

back at a tavern i was going to knock some guy out, so we could steal his map of the underground caverns of the city, well the rog this kids char was next to the guy, first we tried to pickpocket it, but it failed, was a 9 rolled out of a d20 and the rog needed a 18 to steal from the guy, even with the rogs +5 to dex, he still didnt get it with a 14, so i used the powder to knock the dude out

as the skill use of magical items i needed 14 to use it correctly, i rolled a 1 with +2 int to skill use, but since it was a automatic Fail roll, i rolled my percentiles, and rolled low on those too, so the powder went all over the rog, but instead of knocking the char out the dm decided to take over the rogs char and had him knock me out ( i guess the powder was actually a mezz type of magical devise/item)

another story, my friend decided to not play with us any longer, well for one because of complications in RL, so we killed his character, and stole his horse and all his gear, he recieved an actual +2 str bp that none of us could use

now in dnd for rangers, rangers are normally set to use leather armor, if they go higher then leather, we start cant do that much dps, now this char of mine is for adnd

and this last friday im now playing 3 chars, two clerics, and a young halfling ranger we saved

the campaigns we run are very basic, if yer not having fun, or you feel things drag on, longest fight ive had lasted a hour and a half, but was because of a few dumb things i did, didnt quite understand how some spells worked

other then that, if we run into a group of 6-8 orcs, in 15 mins or 20 we can chop em down quick, once we killed 20 kobolds (with our lvl 5 chars) in 10 minutes, but was due to our wizard that just likes to fireball everything, haha

but if yer not having fun, find a new gm
