as for the assumption that TR doesn't zerg: they do. Up until last week they were hitting bosses with 40-50+, but now that there's a force larger than theirs it's a zerg, whereas before their force was considerably larger than anybody else's. Had they had a larger force last 2 trak spawns they'd have gotten those too, but they're well aware of that.
The rules favor big guilds and zerg forces, and currently only b/c it resolves the issue of GM intervention... which is fucking extremely odd considering ________ __ _______, but nevermind that. Basically it's ease of the GMs > a fair and classic raiding experience, so collect warm bodies = prosper. IB has done this twice, once at the beginning of the server where they recruited anybody higher level and then during poopsock era, and after DA fell apart they maintained that thought-process thru kunark. For a guild who's attempted to merge a few times to keep that streak going to call anybody else on this server out is be-fucking-yond me. obv~ DA isn't any better, and this TMO/Asc merger is just another notch in the headboard of raping p99, but at least it mixes things up a bit.

While time is a huge factor, so is knowledge. What makes a rocket surgeon better at rocket surgery than you or me? They have the necessary knowledge the perform the required tasks. While EQ is a very old game, and anyone with access to Google can research all the info they need, the simple fact is that many players do not. Just because the information is out there doesn't mean every individual is taking advantage of it. In my personal experience, what makes one player better than another is their knowledge of the game mechanics, mob encounters, the capabilities of their and everyone else's class, etc.
I'm not saying that someone with a TR tag is better than someone without one, but our assessment process ensure that prospective members do have what I would consider an above average knowledge of the game. For that reason, I don't think Karsten was too far off in saying that TR members are above average players - in hindsight, "skill" may have been a poor choice of words. But whatever, that is just my take. Grats to TMO and Ascension on the kill today.

hey. don't talk about my IB that way. you're just totally making shit up now.
in ancient times, if an IB raid hit 20 we were amazed. We ruled the server with a "/ all inglourious" never resulting in a list cut short. cuz we were all very good. then the rotation struck but let's not even worry about that. when the rotation went away, durison and his pack of dingleberries played the new rules and zerg recruited. and since that's how the rules were, that's what raiding became from then til now.
