counterpoint:

When developers are allowed to use AI tools, they take 19% longer to complete issues—a significant slowdown that goes against developer beliefs and expert forecasts. This gap between perception and reality is striking: developers expected AI to speed them up by 24%, and even after experiencing the slowdown, they still believed AI had sped them up by 20%.

None of that means that AI can’t eventually be every bit as transformative as its biggest boosters claim it will be. But eventually could turn out to be a long time.

Isn't medium the preferred term when renting someone's son or daughter?

AI will never be a threat because I can't just go to any ai right now and say:

Create email accounts as fast as you can.

Email politicians constantly dick picks.

Call them regularly and ask if they saw the dick pics from spoof phone numbers.

Find all their family emails and email them dick picks too.

So, in conclusion: AI is useless.

Agreed that AI is largely useless in most applications that don't revolve around generating text or images.

But it's quickly taking over as the go-to for generating text or images. Soon, (and already) there will be large groups of people who are guided by their AI generated grandkids to send them money because they got stuck travelling in India.

Back in the old days at least the folks that didn't want change called themselves conservatives.

Should we go back to this or were you ok with replacing this generation of artists with your generation's interests?

Should we ban cameras because painters used to do that stuff?

You keep trying to engage with me by coming up with a rebuttal to a point that I did not make. Lots of strawman arguments as well. When did I ever say anything about "going back to" anything, or replacing the generation of artists?

I mentioned worry about AI giving misinformation, and your attempt to engage is: "using a self checkout line is hypocritical????"

I am talking about generating realistic images in very little time with the effort to scam people. Your attempt to engage said something about artists and cameras because of stop-motion animation?????

Genuinely unsure if trolling or there's a communication barrier.

Either way, AI or LLMs more technically, suck at anything but generating rambling nonsense.

it can't write malware from scratch but appaently the sheer volume of rewritten code is causing problems for classification/detection

I may be old school but installing a thing called worm on a computer sounds like a bad idea to me.
