![]() I have a good general idea. spamming taunt is worthless. it puts you at the top of the hate list, more of a snap aggro, if it's successful. it should be reserved for when you lose aggro, not while you are actively holding aggro. aggro is generated by damage output and hate, and more importantly, by procs. procs that have certain things like stuns cause more hate then other procs.
I played a warrior on live, and that was my understanding. correct me if I'm wrong, please.

![]() People always blame the gear. Fact is a class like the Warrior, while simplistic at first glance, is extremely skill intensive. Proper pulling and strategy almost always rests on their shoulders.
Back in the day *coughs dust* I remember grouping with amazing warriors and crappy ones. What they were holding seldom made the difference.

![]() well, this isn't back in the day 100%, this is p1999, and the OP has a valid concern that he really needs certain procs to maintain aggro. it's not 100% of what makes a warrior, I'll give you that much.
slave - being at the top of the hate list momentarily doesn't guarantee you maintain aggro. it puts you to the top of the list, it doesn't put you far ahead. you need to generate more hate then others to maintain it, otherwise it's just a momentary aggro grabber.

![]() Actually the OP didn't want procs. He wanted a price fixed market system. Let's throw fixed income too because I'm broke.
Maybe communism would be better than the old days.

![]() his complaint about weapon choice limitation stems from *needing* procs for aggro, though.
I don't agree that he should be able to go turn in some bat wings for a weapon of his choice, though. it's unfortunate the market is jacked up and there is far too much plat available on the market, but it is what it is. make due, work towards your epic for later.

![]() Agreed procs are needed on a level but "warrior" and "weapon limitation" aren't in the same galaxy.
I don't know how rare the BotBDE is as a nerfed item but on live they were like tap-dancing unicorns. Rare enough people disregarded them as options and just used other taunt-proc weapons. If every warrior needed one it would be in your starting gear with water and muffins. I understand the min/maxing but this is a game with disadvantages, broken classes, and sometimes dumb luck. There are options out there...ask the other warriors instead of calling for economic reform. Note: as people say epics will solve this. You can use a guild and time/luck or pay for MQ items and paid thugs. No drop items also sweeten the pot in Velious.

![]() I played a warrior on Live from Kunark until last year when I found this server, I started end game raiding in Velious until that time. I have never spammed taunt on my warrior, and only used it when I lose agro. Of course with the addition of AA's over the many years I really did forget just how hard a warrior has it until I came back to this server.
I re made my warrior a Wood elf, then deleted him and went Gnome. Spamming taunt will never ensure you have agro, in my experience it will only reset any decent amount of agro you have just built up. Mind you this one has always been debated over the many years. http://www.thesteelwarrior.org/forum...ead.php?t=1377 http://www.thesteelwarrior.net/forum...hp/t-5101.html There are many many more I have no doubt... Peace.

Successful taunt when you are not on top of the NPC hate list = moves you one point higher in hate above whoever was at the top of the list. Successful taunt when you are already at the top of the hate list = only give you +1 point of hate. That's my recollection anyways. Instead of the OP complaining that warriors work here the same way they did on EQLive 12 years ago, perhaps he should play a different game or try a different tank class in exchange for the outrageous xp penalty those tank classes incur.

![]() Prior to AA's and disciplines, it was tricky to hold aggro against monks, rogues and yes, rangers, to say nothing of errant casters. Aggro control is the responsibility of everyone in the warrior's group/raid. If the warrior is playing correctly then others need to do the same.
