I was a kid and it was my brother's birthday, we sat down to watch some cheez TV and saw the news, then we ran into mother's bedroom screaming "IT'S WW3!" and she was right in the middle of morning glory with her bf.

As for myself, I was in 7th grade in english class. When it happened all the teachers had a big discussion on whether they would show us the news or not, and some decided for themselves. My teacher was a prude, though she eventually let us watch the news after the second plane hit. Afterwards we were let out of school.
The class after the announcement was Social Studies, so we just watched the news all period. My mom came and picked me up from school, which I thought was completely unwarranted but I wasn't about to argue getting out of school free.

10th grade 2nd period Chem class in high school. During 3rd period I watched the second plane fly into the second tower. Some fucked up shit right there.

Also the plane that went down in Shanksville, Pennsylvania was only about an hour and a half from where I used to live.

I'm not going to waste my time explaining why World War II was more horrific than 9/11 to you (good god I hope this is just a troll)
50 million dead(including the mass jewish genocide) compared to about 3k dead? I see what you mean. But really, 9/11 is just like Pearl Harbor 70 years ago, people acted the same way, scared.

You're comparing the entirety of WW2 to the day September 11.

I'm comparing the indirect effects - still ongoing - of September 11 on American politics (contributing significantly to our turning into a third-world shithole, and having already killed hundreds of thousands) to the American involvement in WW2.

when did america become a third world country? maybe i should look into holidaying there next year!

i was at college in my first year and i had a call to say watch the news, flicked on the BBC in our classroom and saw the second plane hit, and towers fall yadda yadda. even as a brit i remember thinking it was horrible, but at the time i was addicted to EQ and im p sure within a few hours i was pulling frogs in lguk and had forgotten all about it. such is the young mind of an EQ addict.

I was working for AT&T Broadband at the time. It was a surprise meeting because Comcast had decided to buy our region from AT&T. The first good news was that all our benefits were being cut and also we were going to be paying more for all our benefits, they started charging more for copays and contributing less to 401k. So after 2 hours of basically getting bent over the rails and the cheerleader managers saying we weren't losing "that much" we walked out into the break room just in time to see the first tower in flames there we sat watching it and it couldn't have been 3 minutes later that the towers collapsed. But don't worry they sent us out into the field anyways, people have to have their cable TV!
