Its prob been said already a zillion times but this happens when folks zone in near simultaneously. No conspiracy, you just couldn't see your attacker at all.

Very rarely when two people zone somewhere at the same time, one becomes invisible to the other, even though the other can see them/cast on them/etc. This happened once when I was assisting someone on a CR, we zoned at the same time and she was invisible to me on the other side, so someone was able to attack her but my buffs wouldn't land on her. I could even see someone attack her except it looked like the person was attacking thin air if I remember correctly.

yes this happens very rarely but does happen
