Lower skill levels will increase somewhat faster, pending update.
One of the first things I noticed soon after comming to this EMU was how fast weapon skills went up. (think i even made a post about it)

What ive seen since last patch is a lot closer to how I recall it being in classic.

What did you play in classic?

I played a ranger, and could easily have my 1hs, 1hb, and piercing at cap, every level. I would keep spare weapons just for that purpose, then switch back to my primary 1-handers.

I made a new toon just after the last patch, and haven't been able to keep even one weapon skill at max. My 1hb is currently 16 points below cap (89 with a cap of 105), and nothing else is even halfway there. Skill-ups aren't impossible, but something is slightly off. At level 21, meleeing the entire time, I shouldn't be 16 points below the weapon cap on my primary skill. That wasn't classic....

I played a troll SK in 1999.

Skill ups were like "mini levels" , the slow progression of your character in the world. I even recall articles about the game referencing them as part of the "hook" of your character, the slow feeding of rewards and advancement.

Getting skill ups in classic was something you took notice of.

How it was before the last patch, was defiently not classic. Like I said I noticed it right away when I started playing on this emu, and posted about it.

I played from shortly before Kunark was released until 2003/4. If anything how was before last patch was 10x closer to how it was on live than it currently is.

Right now is not classic, anyway. It's Kunark. It definitely was nowhere near this excrutiatingly brutal in Kunark, much less classic.

This is a big hindrance to me. Im a level 4 monk and my 1hb and 2hb skills are both at 3. I can barely kill whites. I wasn't around in classic but this can't be right. All my kick, dodge, dual wield, etc are where they should be (20s).
