Problem is no one is playing, isn't it obvious.

Is the mission to get the remaining players to quit, or just troll pvp server chat threads?

If the people complaining do not play, then they should gtfo or restrict their posts to pvp rants and flames. Pretty simple to me.

I'm tired of seeing every pvp thread turn into the same discussion from the same 5-10 people. If people aren't being helpful in server chat, they are going to be removed. qq.
The mission is to get more than 20 people playing on Saturday.

The Harder part about that mission is that most of those who quit, are now playing on red69.

So IF, you want the server to survive (and by survive, I don't mean a Nihilum sandbox), you NEED to do something to lure those folks who quit, back into the fold.

The fact that there never seems to be an actual response, or a poll or something to try to get these 10,000 posts about bullshit "red dead" to stop, just proves that NO ONE CARES. At least no one that matters.

PoSky was going to do NOTHING to lure people back (proven already by the fact population still hasn't changed) and that content is NOT king (go choke on those words Dullah and Tr0llb0rn and I hope they taste like shit).

You want these posts to stop?

Do something. Make a sticky to either say, You are happy with the population being 20 on a weekend, and those of us who actually care can just go put 127.0.0.1 www.project1999.org into our hosts file. Or at least acknowledge that the server is not where you want it, and that ideas are being thrown around on what to do.

There are plenty of people who are on IRC and in the forums who aren't 200lb bags of dicks and can get a good conversation going about how we can get this server up to where it should be, population wise.

Either come out and say you are happy with the server being where its at. Or at least acknowledge that the server needs something (whatever that something is, can be discussed, but the sheer absence of talk is a joke).

First step to people considering playing this server is GM communication. There are no indications that this has changed.

The problem with what you said is that people most likely won't come back in one huge wave. What then happens is a few people return at a time, see no one to PVP or exp with and just a vast ghost town and log. I really am skeptical of anything short of a wipe bringing a big enough wave of people at one time back where it can rebuild itself. Low pop is like a domino effect, the drop from sixty to twenty happened very quick but the uphill climb from twenty to hundred is almost impossible.

I don't want a wipe because of loots or these people won these people lost blah blah I want it because I see no other way to generate the interest in this server that will allow it to ever climb out of that hole. Kunark will be the same way. A dozen or so people return, see almost no one to group with, no options at the end game, no meaningful PVP, and log out. Re-release this server with all the changes that have been made with either kunark at launch or one month of classic max. Police the boards after that, create a server honor code like on 69 where people allow LnS, keep certain unnamed GMs as far as way as possible from this server and take a much less active role in policing raid PVP. Finally, set resists at least on MR spells to the way they actually were in classic. Profit with high pop and lots of fun.

Pleading for a wipe? Better uses for your time man, that's never going to happen.

Personally I'm not sure if I'd ever really get invested in EQ again at this point. But if we're going to have a candid conversation about the population problem, it is my firm belief that a wipe or a "reboot" a "fresh start" however you want to market it, is the only way to ever see the pop reach meaningful numbers again. But I guess people can keep hoping that a hundred people all return to the server at the same time, just like I hope the bank teller gives me a hundred grand by accident. Or just make a second box, raise donations for it and keep this one up. I don't see the big deal personally, this box will die with velious because it's pop will not support the raids. With nothing left to do the server will completely fizzle out so why wait until then with the server already on a path for death instead of being pro-active and doing something about it now?

I would like this server to work, I just see no possible way other than this, if someone else does please enlighten me.

Release Kunark ASAp it's the only chance left and the longer you wait the less people will care.

You can redo a restaurant, fix what was wrong get a better chef etc etc but once people had those original hockey pucks you called steaks, short of a kitchen nightmares episode you are fucked. Gotta change that restaurant name and rebrand it.

This is not rocket science, it has played out countless times in the mmorpg industry where a game comes out too early and by the time the changes that are needed are made everyone has already vanished except the few diehards who aren't enough to support the game. Only difference is this game has the potential to be relaunched as a new experience people are willing to relive because of the mystique of EQ.
