What do you stinking antibazaarites have against the bazaar anyway? Other than that it is merely ten to thirty times more fun than sitting around EC auctioning.
My personal feeling is that it greatly lessens the need for players to talk to players. A certain amount of forced socializing helps hold the playerbase to together and can form new acquaintances, which leads to more grouping possibilities, etc.

It will be argued by some that it is actually bad for the "economy" as well. I am not going to go into the pros and cons of that at this time.

I want Luclin, but with no cats and no bazaar and no beastlords and no paludal. Also no grimlings, they were just stupid. Plus none of those dumb humphrey bogart lookin vampires. Oh and no moon.

Plenty of servers with the horrid expansions pass velious. Let's let this one be ruined after how long people have clamored it. Cats on a moon, mix matched graphics, nexus, bazaar ... Yah

Long time lurker, first time poster.

You can't have LDoN without having PoP too.

Reason #1: having LDoN without PoP too means you're really trivializing pre-VT raid gear. Most of NToV--which you know was *THE SHIT* in terms of gear when Velious was current--would be a waste of time compared to what you're getting off of LDoN merchants.

Reason #2: Most of the LDoN raids would be unbeatable at level 60, especially without VT gear. They're all capped at 54 players so zerging the shit out of them isn't an option, either. You're not going to be able to tank the namers in this one http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/q...tml?quest=3783 for example at level 60 even in full VT.

Reason #3: The prize of the LDoN raids are the augments, which are all either type 3 or type 8. Items with type 3 slots can be purchased from LDoN adventure merchants or dropped from LDoN raid chests, but type 8 slots are only found in plane of time gear (and in later expacs). Meaning most of the augs you're getting from LDoN raids you literally can not use.

Reason #4: All of the high end LDoN merchant stuff is recommended level of 65. All of the raid drops are required level of 65.

If you wanted to do LDoN without having PoP first you'd have to customize it to the point of almost starting from scratch. Implementing the current iteration of LDoN wouldn't work for level 60 characters.

I'm sorry, but on a server like this with no two-boxing, it can only improve character interaction. I interact a lot more in groups than I do shift-upping in EC and asking people how much X item is. If I wasn't in EC, I'd be out playing the GAME.

Saying that it decreases interaction is a totally ridiculous reason to poopoo the bazaar on P99 and if you thought about it for less than a minute you'd see why.

Ah you assume (too) much. I have thought about it - and for much longer than one minute. Beginning with the obvious decline of EQ (Luclin/PoP eras) and since EQ was dethroned by WoW, and varioius other WoW-clones have come onto the scene, I've thought a lot about how and why original recipe EQ was different (IMO better) than these newer games. There is a concept known as "The Vision (tm)" that encapsulates the philosphy of the original EQ (yes McQuaid is not now what he was, but that is beside the point, and anyway, it wasn't just his vision). There were several important ingredients in the Vision, one of them being the need to encourage group interaction. As I said before, I think the Bazaar goes against this.

You give an example of why YOU - a self confessed grouper - loose time grouping because there is no Bazaar. But not everyone is like you. The need to deal and bargain with sellers and the enforcement of a global gathering spot helps encourage social interaction amongst people who are not heavy groupers to begin with. Granted it is easier and faster to grab something from the Bazaar ... but the success of "The Vision (tm)" is not at all about what is the EASIEST thing for the player. Quite the contrary.

If we want to keep discussing this, we should spawn a separate thread. This is really derailing now.
