This is her after the biopsy and a few days before the surgery

She's the same now, only instead of a large blue bandage there's nothing.

I really need to take a recent picture of her. That was 3 years ago. Same with my other cats. I don't have recent pictures of them, none that are digital anyway.

(p.s., it cost me $4000, and the vet was again surprised that it took me no time to come to the "difficult decision" to approve the surgery).

(p.p.s., Twinkie's brother Oreo got severely sick last February and cost me another $2000. He had a urinary tract infection so I made an appointment for him for the next day. I gave him a tiny amount of ibuprophen dissolved in water to help him sleep comfortably because the poor thing was obviously in discomfort. BAD IDEA. BAD BAD BAD. By the morning he was bleeding so bad we all swore he was gonna die right there. I put him in the tub and tried to wash him off before taking him and it was like a murder scene and wouldn't stop. Vet said he probably wouldn't survive the night because his kidneys were probably too damaged and his bladder was probably dead.

Well he did survive. I got the call the next morning saying he survived and is doing better, when I resigned myself to him dying and it being my fault. He had to stay there a week but he pulled through with flying colors. I visited him during his stay, and when they brought him out to me he snuggled into my coat. Even right now he's curled up on my bed waiting for me.

Moral of the story: DON'T GIVE YOUR PETS ANY MEDICATIONS not specifically given by the vet, especially ones for humans. Mine was an innocent mistake on my part; I thought I was doing a good thing. Human medications can kill pets. I only gave a tiny amount of a single pill but it was enough to nearly kill him.

JUST BE AWARE. I don't wish that scare on anyone, nor the guilt that comes from it. (I also don't wish the enormous expense, geez!) I still apologize to him now, every night, but I think he understands. He's as happy as ever. Vet understood too. Unfortunately there's more than a few cases of well-wishing owners severely poisoning or killing their pets.

Did I mention I love cats? Animals in general, cats in particular.

Let's hope the spoiler tags work.

By the way, notice the smile on Twinkie's face in the first photo as I'm petting her [You must be logged in to view images. It's plain as day when you look at the picture. That's a bona fide smile. She knew I was there, enjoyed the closeness, and she knew I saved her life and cured her pain.

And man do I wish I had access to EDIT right now so I don't clog this thread with lots of posts.
