Social media my man. Ban that shit and the TV and give children only Cicero, Plato, and a piano and you’d be amazed how quickly it turns around
We also need to stop glorifying athletes. I’m not sure why we worship meatheads and value our least useful people. A single paramedic saves how many lives in their career? Compare that to OJ Simpson

It’s not even athletes, although I completely agree
Most online influencers have literally no discernible skill at anything, including sports, and are only just popular because they are attractive. And social media influencer are kid’s number 1 pick now as their desired job in surveys
So now we have a generation of kids who are having to come to grips with not measuring up to a trivial and utterly-unearned quality like facial symmetry. And as the quote goes “comparisons are the death of joy”
And if not to the professional influencers, they are comparing themselves to whoever amongst their peer age range is the most popular. And comparing their life to some photoshopped, highly pruned, fake highlight reel of an attractive person’s life according to their social media
I’m reluctant to ban stuff due to freedom of speech, but if not banned there should be mandatory classes in public school as to all the ways social media like Snapchat and TikTok are terrible for you. Told by actual role models like the ones you mentioned, but they’d need some charisma as well so as not to be just another corny “drugs are bad” kind of scare campaign the kids would laugh at. I would imagine these would be far more useful for kid’s overall well-being than whatever weird shit some school’s sex ed classes seem to be turning into these days
