The reason those guild would watch in awe is because of how some glaringly obvious incorrect mechanics exist on P99 that never existed on Live.
Being able to bind in ToV is an obvious one. No one could bind inside ToV. You had to bind outside at the pillar. Without ToV bind spots, no Dragons in North or East ToV would've been killed in the past 6 months on P99. Except for the one Cekenar CSG CotH'd up to kill. Just think about that. Due to a mechanic inconsistency, only a single dragon has been killed in the same way they were killed on live in the past 6 months. Furthermore, all zones Kunark and beyond had set distances at which a mob would forget a player and return home if they ever got X distance away. In ToV this distance is small enough that your rebuttal to the above "yea but we could pull the same way without bind spots" would not work. Whether you try to time a Eye of Zomm or Javelin and a CotH or whatever other neat mechanic you intended to replace TL box pulling with, it wouldn't matter if this server worked like live. The mob would deaggro once you get CotH'd back due to the distance separation. I do love me some low number kills and being forced to rush things together to do it. But requiring a 4 AM spawn and broken EQ mechanics to being put in that situation is dumb. Set all Dragons to 2-4 hour respawn and remove all raid rules except respect FTE and don't train. You wanna poopsock underneath Dozekar for 4 hours and kill him twice have fun. You want to clear up to Triplets classic, have fun. You want to CotH into PoM cubby and clear to doubles, have fun. You want to CotH into Doubles directly, have fun. You will see people try to 1-group Gorenaire and try to kill Cekenar with 2-3 groups. And try to CotH into doubles and engage Lady Nev/Jorlleag simultaneously. And try to kill Vulak in his room. Etc. You just needa get the respawn time set so low that nerds stop caring about competing on every kill or every other kill. This is the ultimate fix to P99's raiding woes. Let nerds have fun on their own terms without any nonsensical stall issues, proximity camp issues or all that other bullshit that causes you to blow up Sirken's Skype for 2 hours straight. When I saw CSG get Feshlak this weekend and have a tough time pulling it I really was hoping they just said fuckit and set up in the Aaryonar hallway to clear to Feshlak. Would've been great.

1 AA every 10 minutes sounds like complete retard mode EQ. Granted you have several EQ bonuses in play + high end Luclin raid gear, it still seems ridiculously fast. Will one of you sage EQ nerds weigh in? How fast could you AA back in the day with raid gear?

Recap of the last 495 pages: both Project 1999 and Phinigel have a combination of classic mechanics that have been known for years and non-classic bugs that make them much easier, yet nerds on both servers still consider success there to be a life achievement.

Of course, I don't see anyone saying that Phinigel is a true classic EQ experience. They're just saying that they're having fun.

6aa/hr stacking an XP bonus and XP potion, 4-5 is pretty realistic with a optimized group and nonstop access to mobs. 3-4 an hour is what a person can expect from a normal PUG.
