I always voted for social liberty, if it was a tax hike? I said fuck it, yes.

I am part of the problem, the middle class white person who thought the rest of the world was smarter than it actually is.

Now what I think is really funny is, democrats, as self ritious as they are, would rather fight for the fucking PRESS's name on social media, rather than fucking spend some time at a god damn food bank.

Everytime I hang with republicans, its church, family or volunteer.

Everytime I hang out with liberals its me first, gimi gimi, or lets do drugs. with a tiny minority actually volunteering for a few hours a year (but they haven't in the last few)

Its rediculoous.

Liberals really are as stupid as all those stupid people said we were.

Agreed! I would put up with high taxes and business regulations if the Dems actually stood for free speech and total social freedom on drugs, sex, gambling, you name it. But instead they double down on identity politics/reverse racism while being gutless when it comes to what consenting entities do in the privacy of their whatever. They only wave the multi-colored flag because it is an easy way to pander to a broad base of voters.

Heat Street, the online news vehicle Murdoch backed for Mensch, has folded. If you google news for Murdoch, almost everyone is saying his $12 billion bid to acquire Sky News is in trouble. This Guardian story says the deal is on track:

If Murdoch succeeds, he will have Mensch to thank. When News Corp's phone hacking scandal was in the headlines, Mensch, as a British parlimentarian, helped soften the language of the eventual rebuke to Murdoch and News Corp to an extent that left the door open for the Sky merger to still have a chance. Is Murdoch really closing Heat Street because of Mensch's Russia "conspiracy theories"? Or is she doing exactly what her boss wants?

hey i'm a social liberal too, this was me a couple years ago. its sad because i believe in a lot of the things the left "should" stand for on a strong genuine level, but i have to vote against them because they're inept/corrupt and i don't want to reward that. many trump voters hate the GOP and i was one of them. the best thing that can happen to the democratic party is it fails, fractures, and reforms or splits into new parties. right now the neoconservative/neoliberal democratic old guard is running the show and they're incredibly out of touch with the bulk of the party and most americans. even if they find another obama from out of nowhere, they have no platform anymore and they don't seem very poised to change that. its starting to happen.
