it's like you make the atomic bomb (server) and you don't want to let other countries (guilds) have nuclear secrets (under the radar information). it's gm's business and no one else's or else everyone gets nuked. letting Iran or North Korea beta test and keep the successful nukes, makes other countries uncomfortable.

If I see level 50's selling these for 15kpp I'm gonna be pissed.
You won't..
You'll see them hold on to extras till they nerf the drop, THEN they will sell them for 30k. Easy.

I'd like to say that any train caused by Penoy is likely not due to his intent, but due to his lack of skill. Penoy = newb. He trains our members on a regular basis. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

As an impartial observer it still looks like a KS to me, whether or not it was intentional is up for debate. If the rule of whoever engages first is the law, then we can have 2 groups huddled up next to any spawn waiting to attack every named pop and claim "we hit it first it's ours!". When I played classic it was always whoever was there first owns the camp, it's just the most fair method. If something pops and you happen to be late on the trigger you lose the spawn? What if you're a wizard and while you're casting your opening spell a melee runs up and auto-attacks before your spell hits? If the wizard does more damage and gets the kill does the melee get to call a KS because he actually landed the first damage then the wizard stole it?

Why does it have to be this complicated? If someone is there, then go to another camp. If you start to attack and realize afterwards that someone was there but you didn't see them, then back off. If you get the kill allow the other person to loot. I've done this many times where I start to kill something only to realize someone was already there. I always backed off in that instance as it seemed the legit way to handle the situation.

If you're going to camp something by logging out at the camp point, then be prepared to lose the spawn when you log back in and someone else is there. In order to hold the camp you must be there. Logging out and back in doesn't count as holding the camp.

And one last thing. Everyone has the right to any camp, but when certain guilds are farming goods it really does ruin it for other people. It's a low population server and we want new people to come here. If these newer players have no chance to get good items due to other players hoarding them, then how can we expect new players to stay? I just found this server and look forward to playing on it, but by the time I'm 50 I can only imagine the amount of people farming spawns when they already have the items... Efficient guilds always have people on at all times holding down camps, and while that may be legal it still makes it hard for others to gain access to items. I know how it works. I used to farm things all the time as well, but on a server like this, excessive farming by uber guilds only works to hold down others.

So once we're 50 and/or in a guild we're not allowed to obtain the items we need to upgrade our characters, and cater to all those lower level than us? How is that fair?

When I played back in the day, the person at the camp first was entitled to the kill, regardless of who struck the first blow. At least that's how it was on The Rathe server. I know this for fact because I remember camping Hadden for a FB earring as a lower level and before the spawn, a druid would gate in and wait to kill with one shot.

I petitioned and a GM came in and supervised to make sure he didn't KS. He let him know it wasn't acceptable and told him he could watch, but not kill.

Guys the situation is pretty simple and not a mystery.

The server had just crashed. Both had just logged in. Yiam was prepping behind the wall. Penoy was on the wooden planks, unable to see Yiam. He saw an un-engaged EE. The question is who engaged first, Penoy says he did, not sure what Yiam is claiming. No one really had "dominance" over the camp since the server had JUST gone back up. And there's no use arguing over who got first aggro unless a GM looks through logs (which Aeolwind already alluded to doing, possibly, maybe; I know if I was a GM I wouldn't give an expletive). Can't believe you guys care so much about a damn EE bag.

End this abortion of a thread.

So because the server had just came back up the "who is there first" rule does not apply. You're right it's not a huge deal, it's just the principal. Yiam logged back in before Penoy did. He had not engaged yet as he was still buffing. Penoy logged in, saw no one and engaged. Yiam spoke up and was clearly there already, even though he hadn't engaged. Penoy should have apologized and said "sorry man, thought it was empty didn't see you, my bad". End of story. If Yiam had a pet up clearly he had logged in first.

Yes it may have only been an EE bag this time, but what if it was a manastone? For those in the big guilds, losing the chance for a manastone may not be a big deal. For someone who hasn't even touched one yet it is a bit more important. Right?

On another note, in "true" classic wasn't the manastone(mistakenly) the common and the EE bag the rare? I remember camping that damn thing a month into the original game and manastones dropped like candy. Hell I gave up the rights to the stone the first time so I could have the bag since I had no clue at the time what the manastone was haha.
