I think he's referring to your bullshit sense of entitled privilege.
Who plans their holiday around a reboot of an emulated EverQuest server? That's the real question.

Is it ever possible to start notifying your community of maintenance.. maybe 12-24 hours.. Its classic, and furthermore its a nice gesture to your players who plan out their days for repops with Christmas a week away.
Its very common in customer gaming community.
Wow

I'm not asking for extra features of the game. Again this is very common in gaming communities.

Doing it for free has nothing to do with this small questions.
None the less, you are comparing what are very likely to be revenue generating games to one that is provided and maintained for free. I think it's fine to make a request, but to compare P1999 to any other MMO or service seems a bit silly to me.

This game being maintained for free has everything to do with your small request because it provides context to your comparison. Maybe if they started charging a fee to play or had some form of revenue generated outside of donations would you be in a position to compare this to other games. The fact is, these people already dedicate countless hours to what you are free loading to be a part of.

These guys are cooking you dinner and delivering it to your doorstep for free, and you are asking them for more napkins, comparing them to the local joint down the street who happens to have more napkins every time you order from there.

Any business that does free ware or anything with a type of crowd funding should not take cx feedback or requests to better improve the product..

OK..
Not trying to rag on you, just providing context to where some of the toxicity you are feeling is coming from. Again, comparing this project to a business or even a crowdsourced project is out-of-line. This is not a business, it is a project done for free by volunteers who happen to have a passion for something you enjoy experiencing.

Crowdsourcing involves dozens to hundreds to thousands of people giving money for the sole purpose of receiving a finished product or service. I know I am being redundant, but again, this is a free game done by volunteers. It is not a crowdsourced project funneling in money in exchange for the promise of using that money to deliver a classic EQ experience. Crowdsourced projects are liable to their backers. P1999 is liable to no-one.

Wow... this is like being provided free clothing from something like the salvation army and being pissed the jeans were boot cut instead of straight cut.

Yeah I am sad the servers are down bc I finally have a day off from work, but I am never gonna complain about maintenance. The guys who run this server let me feel like I am 17 again, just now my computer can handle the clip plane turned all the way up [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Christmas was just an example of what week we r in raev.

But yes I do plan my weeks errands and responsibilities around spawn timers, as well as other things I wish to get done in a productive way.

All I gotta say is that I'm happy you found something so fulfilling you've decided to plan your life around it... Not my choice nor that of the vast majority of well adjusted adults but to each their own...

I guess knowing you'll be glued to your computer should be a comforting thought for everyone else out in the world
