How are raid rotations communism? You still have to go kill the thing yourself, no?
It is being given to you without competition. It isn't happening here.

So sitting outside waiting for a mob to spawn for hours just to foot race to the mob is competition? Really? That's it?

A 'competition' without PVP is by default half-assed. Everyone playing on green (including myself) has made a choice that they would prefer code be in place to protect themselves from a complete challenge. We're all whores, we're just quibbling about the price.

Bros, these recommendations are just instances with extra steps, 1/10th the loot pool, catering to casuals.

Which is literally everything EQ isn't.

got it
If you're playing on a non-pvp server you've already given in to 'communism'. It's just a question now of how much you're okay with.

I feel like it depends. My understanding is that there were servers back in the day where the 7-days were on rotations. However, there were also servers that weren't. Saying that somehow rotations aren't 'real EQ' seems misguided. However generally it does seem that rotations were not handed down from on high but rather player agreed. If some players want to try to deny everyone else pixels, that does seem to be one way classic EQ was played.

That's an interesting perspective. No one is denying anyone anything, those pixels won are pixels earned. If you compete and win, more power to you.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck!

No, I meant literally as in, for some players, it seems as if they're not as happy with the pixels they have if others have the same pixels. It's the difference between say running a personal best time and beating someone in a race. It seems as if for some EQ isn't as fun unless someone else loses out. But I'm not casting a moral judgement there; EQ is a game and has no real life consequences. You're not gonna go hungry if you don't get pixels, so if some people enjoy EQ as a competitive game, in your words, more power to them. It's not really different than playing Madden or FIFA in that respect.

If you consider socking/racing to a mob competition, I feel sorry for you. And yes, it's not only ST sitting outside mobs socking. By default, a sock won't exist if only one guild is going after the mob.

Which servers rotated on live? I played Fennin Ro and never say that. It was always survival of the fittest.

Sorry I don't have a bulleted list here for you. E'ci and Karana did. Those were the two I played on. Had a bunch of friends on various servers where they rotated as well. And it's not survival of the fittest. It's survival of the most unemployed.
