Yea, but that whole concept of what applied on my server applied everywhere isn't realistic. I'm pointing it out because it's been used countless times by countless people to prove a point but it falls short of reality.

To put it simply: the rules of the server here are whatever the rules are set to be. It's really that simple. Personal experience from your server may agree with or stray from what it's like here, but because of the nature of classic EQ servers the rules here are always up for debate.

Only because we allow it to be.

Believe it or not, different servers had different rules which different GMs enforced differently. I like saying different.

Some actually ported guilds out for leapfrogging, some didn't care if you trained your ass off. This whole notion of "that's not how it was on live" has been brought up again and again by the completely clueless. That argument held no water back then because it was relative to whom you referred to and which server you played on; needless to say that argument isn't valid here either.
Amen to this. Hell some servers didnt even have multiple guilds capable of killing much of anything till Veilous.

What if a group was clearing all the fire giants in sol b only to get to the last pull before magi rokyll, pull the 2 door warriors, and have some prick roll in and tag magi with a throwing star. The group killing the 2 door giants end up getting the kill on magi and the two giants. GM gets involved and awards the prick the channeling crystal stating first to engage rule on fire giants. This is the real good decision making skills our GMs have. They enforce the rules that make the pricks of the server feel better about being douchebags.
The GMs and their rule enforcement are only half the problem. The leadership of the server's top guilds and their lack of ettiquette is the other half of the problem. Its the people of the server and their daily antics toward one another that keeps the GMs and Leaders on this road of douchery.

it's a lot more than that. First and foremost is the mere nature of anonymity on the intarwebs. If a person dicks you over they won't ever meet you and therefore have less of a reason to give a fuck. Secondly, yes, you're right in the sense that some GMs and officers of certain guilds don't give a fuck, or they say they do but in reality they don't =P. Thirdly, this exact scenario has happened before and a GM was involved and ported the group (really the guild) to the safe spot and gave them a time out. There's a distinction between camps and leapfrogging. It is a fine line, but nevertheless there is a clear distinction. Common courtesy says to ask if you're by another group and you may be heading to the same camp, unfortunately this server has a tendency to turn the average player into a pimple-ridden-dickhead of a person as soon as they hit raiding level.

The biggest issue is that people forget why they came here in the first place: to have fun. Instead they get bitter, angry, vengeful, spiteful and loot-mongering because they're under the assumption that everyone else does the same. Apparently "chill the fuck out" just flies by people's heads.

So a group moved themselves into the area that your puller was using to split? Sounds like a good time to keep doing what you're doing and have your puller split some mobs. Leapfrogging assholes will get the message when they see their xp bar going in the wrong direction.

Smile You could play WoW

Alternatives:

1. play WoW
2. Play EQ Live
3. play Wow/ EQ clone
4. Fight Fire With Fire
