hey hey, ektar, don't you lie to me! IB was sending tells to recruit anybody higher lvl when the server started up. but a force of 20 was rather significant back then, as well :P It was IB v Trans, then fish bait and yadda yadda yadda... =D

well if that's true, they discarded most of the recruits. I remember the recruit process used to be really, really strict. I barely got in, and that was only because Mugwy quit.

Perhaps the tagging of recruits is the confusing factor. most recruits were kicked out after proving they weren't what we wanted. and a force of 20 was not significant back then :P It's whatcha needed, sure. But any other 3 groups of 50s in bronze armor can't do the stuff we did, I bet you.

sounds like they mass zerg use recruits to kill mobs then divide loot amounst the core then kick the recruits?

Then recruit a new group of fresh 50/60's use them to kill mobs then divide loot amounst the core.

the thing is that elitist attitude persisted even through all of classic. I remember IB dudes bragging about dropping spiroc lord and bee isle when both were broken to shit and the hardest part of doing those encounters was actually getting the keys. Hell, how many times have you guys taken advantage of broken mechanics and never actually reported the bug?

Soon as poopsocking rolled around you guys hit recruiting hard. real hard. You were no better than DA was at the time, the only difference being that DA wasn't hiding the fact that they were doing it.

It's nothing against you, ektar. you were one of the few IB people that would actually respond to a tell and joke around, even if the person on the other end wasn't in IB. But the whole notion that your players were "more skilled" or in some ways "better" other than being able to invest more time is bullshit. I've watched IB raids from an insider's perspective and listened in on vent for months... you can say I had a good view of the inner workings.

i think you were in europe at the time and on your break.

I can say that wonton is quite a butthole and is an incredibly emotional bitch. Is that good enough? Also you had probably 2-3 good raid leaders and a ton of people who would mindlessly obey instructions.

I say nothing about that poopsocking bullshit. When that hit the recruitment restrictions had to be loosened. That wasn't our tactic, but merely us facing the reality of what eq is and p99 became at the hands of the dark master (durison).

IB was only for the elite. That doesn't mean high skilled people couldn't have not applied and been elsewhere.

spiroc lord and that other crap... all after the golden age I speak of.
