![]() [QUOTE=Wakanda;3710294]Can someone explain what actually happened for those of us who are nosy?
Sure can, and this time I’ll drop names for better transparency. A newer-ish raider named Ahnu claims an assemblage of letters is racist. A name from a tv show .. and we are in a game. And to a person that has been within castle probably a year or more. Doesn’t even spell right. Blasting them calling them a “troff”. Guessing troll is the word they were going for… but who cares at this point. CA leadership Sfinkk Terr and elementealls jump to the defense and claim the same, and without any slurs dropped or cussing, damn near insta kicks this supposedly racist person out, blindsiding them and a few others who have since left completely. Now where is the world is their minds collectively to think this name is unequivocally racist and to fly off the handle like that? Whether it’s shanaynay or however it was spelled or the surname ghettoborne, it leads to questioning. Because 1 is from a show, and to cry racism for the surname implies the mindset of these ppl. Any race can come from a ghetto and poverty. Maybe they had something they disliked of this person behind the scenes. Or maybe the holiday alcohol got to them. Maybe both. But it all plays out very odd when you have another lead in UN msging ”basic white b*tches” and zero kickback. Personally idc about the UN statement, but if you’re going to claim racism, at least be equal opportunity with it.

![]() It's a TV show character created and played by a black man not a white guy or lady in face makeup so it can't be racist, right?
This isn't nearly as bad as the person that said "Negromancer" in guild chat when referring to erudite necros and it was three years before he got kicked and only cause they called an officer a itch and a lut in the same sentence. Sometimes the guy going six over the speed limit gets the ticket while the guy doing 100 doesn't...

This is getting off topic now more than I ever wanted. So I’m done with you. I don’t want to kick a corpse anymore.

That being said, I understand the way the world works and remember that there have been multiple tv show characters who have been seen as racist stereotypes causing issues with those particular show’s publication of those characters. And it really doesn’t matter who is playing the character, it matters if the character is a walking talking racist stereotype So no, “b-b-but it’s from a showww!” wouldn’t save someone from a trip to HR had they tried that joke in a typical work environment. And that was always my entire issue with this whiny attention whore of an OP. He was attempting to claim that being sensitive about jokes is the way to lose, not keep, one’s job. And that’s just not the way the world works. Even if administration or management thought the racist joke was funny, they have the optics and PR of the company to consider and would likely at least reprimand the person making the joke to keep that stuff at home And the OP went off on some tangent about how “excuse me, it’s CA-REER!” about his lawn mowing or dog walking business without acknowledging that it would be stupid to try racist jokes in a typical work environment. So I really have no idea if he came round on that point or not, which was again, my only point

Lol one of the best shows of all time I personally have always been of the belief that comedy is one of the last forms of free expression in the world and I don’t think any type of joke about any subject should be off limits. I think that humans have been using sometimes very dark humor as a way of de-stressing/coping and analyzing the culture around them, since forever But it’s all about reading the room and understanding the medium. People at a comedy shows generally know what’s coming (especially if they know the comedian’s style) and signed up for it…even are paying for it Some warm-body pressing his little 1 or 2 buttons on an EQ raid pretending his in-game contribution actually matters while cracking jokes….isn’t a comedian, and isn’t at a comedy venue. Same thing with someone cracking jokes in the breakroom at work. It’s just plain common sense to be mindful of the medium, and doing so could mean the difference between keeping or losing one’s job. I don’t write the rules, I’m not here to make judgement statements about the rules, I’m just here to report them
