Posts like these always confuse me. Like, you're on the P99 forum talking about how classic EQ is bad and the other servers are better for various reasons. Okay...so why are you here on these forums then? Go over there.

In any case, "will never come back here"...this seems like a quote that's going to age like milk if either of 1. A new P99 server is launched sometime in the future or 2. PQ gets shut down by Daybreak.
Bro, folks are allowed to have lots of interests.

And you're allowed to want P99 to be fixed and attractive, while also in the meantime go kill frogloks elsewhere until such a time.

Question whether it's effective to even post here though; almost all CSR from p99 PLAY ON QUARM....lol dude, literally these guys don't even log in to p99 anymore; ever. They just play quarm and THJ.

EQ always has been time consuming, everything about this game is a grind. I was ~15 when I started and quit around POP. Had a ton of time to play during summer breaks and grind and raid and just shoot the shit with people. Came back at 40 and I'm having a blast but I can't raid meaningfully, won't batphone, probably will never get my epic and much less do the unemployed shit like angry goblin but that's cool, I've accepted it and you can get strong enough with MQs and EC mart stuff given enough time.

There's just no point in wishing the game will become something it never was... especially on a classic server.

people complain loudly about things they care about, esp when said thing is no longer growing and losing customers, you're in actual trouble when people don't even care enough to complain about you fucking up anymore

imagine having to have basic Psych 101 explained to you, jesus fuck dude.

I find this whole argument mysterious. I play p99 almost every day. Sometimes I raid, sometimes I solo, sometimes I group, sometimes I level an alt, sometimes I tradeskill. It's fun. It's a game I loved as a kid, and it's unique. What exactly is the problem?

Consider this: The original live servers, I think sometime around luclin, began merging due to declining individual server pops. I specifically remember when Povar merged into Ayonae Ro. Did that happen because the original game, that we are talking about, during the era we are talking about, became "toxic"? None of this makes any sense. Server pops naturally fluctuate, it doesn't signal some kind of grand catastrophe.

Always amazes me that EQ made such an impression on so many of you who were children or teenagers when the game launched. EQ's slow paced and rather 'boring' to the attention spans typical of that age bracket, then or now. I had Atari as a child and those types of games are much more typical of what I think of as "kid's games." They're short, no depth, quick to get into and out of, and no great appeal to adults.

For me it was a combination of being infatuated with 3d games generally, cause I made tons of quake and doom levels and shit before EQ, plus the novelty of an MMO cause I played ultima online at launch before EQ came out, and it was still the wild west where the genre hadn't been optimized into generic hell yet. There was UO, EQ and I think Asheron's call which I never played. Now there's like 1500 free to play mmos where you can pay to start with a level 60 who cares whatever horse thing. Same reason I hated diablo 4 really.

The game was a completely unique, enthralling experience and also doubled as a chatroom. Wasn't that slow in a good group either, and in general there was frequently the risk of a wandering monster, so downtime still had tension.

Ofc, even in 1999 people would have preferred faster HP/MP regen rates and MOB spawn rates.
