[Buys alt accounts + guild recharging + other items like BCGs etc + raid mats
but really, where does the platinum go!?!? They must sell the platinum and then buy the platinum to buy the other stuff... its' the only logical answer![/QUOTE] So this cost them more then 100 million plat? Bullshit. You dont farm content for months on end, just to sell the items, just to put into guildbank. Your delusional if you dont believe there are people in TMO RMT'ing. Yes ALARTI your fucking delusional if you honestly expect people to believe that.

What constitutes sufficient evidence of RMTing to be turned into the server staff for investigation? A /tell from someone saying they will sell something to you for real money? Too easy for someone to just play it off like "I was just kidding, bro." Plus, the professionals who allegedly make a significant income off of this activity aren't dumb enough to do that.
I imagine it would take some sort of proof of electronic transaction to a specific account, and then tying that account back to a EQ character name once the in-game trade is completed. And the only way for us, the player, to do that is to participate in the RMT itself and risking a ban ourselves. And why would we do that? Certainly the non-legit person doing RMT is completely okay with allowing RMT to happen, so they wouldn't be putting up the infos/screenshots. So a rules-abiding player is forced to participate in illicit activity in order to provide sufficient evidence for the server staff to take action on? The server staff isn't going to shell out real money to a PayPal account just to follow the trail to get rid of an RMTer... not worth the money to do so, unless they can force the payment company to withhold the payment due to services not rendered/product not delivered. I know it's one thing to say "provide us evidence and we'll look into it", but how specifically would you like us to do so, in order to not put our own accounts/reputations at risk for being tagged for RMT?

I mean people thought the world was flat for a while too, eventually that was proven to be false. With a little digging/exploration/investigation I'm sure the truth will come to light very quickly about whos RMT'ing on the server. I can gaurentee it isn't the guilds who dont have an extreme abundance of epic MQ's, Trak Bps, VS legs, aka the guild who has had kunark locked down pretty much since its release. AKA the guild who refuses to accept any kind of diplomatic changes to the raid scene under any circumstances, most likely for fear that they might have to get jobs to pay their rent next month. If RMT were being punished at a significant rate, Platlord's business would suffer too much to continue. Even 1 in 10 transactions being caught would be enough to eat away at profit margins.
I don't care to speculate about why RMT continues and/or who's participating, but it's pretty clear that it's not being effectively combated given the fact that Platlord's business has been stable for this long. You can't stop RMT entirely. When people want to quit, they have nothing to lose. Even 80% enforcement wouldn't stop RMT attempts from quitting players. But it would knock people like Platlord out of the game and make RMT less accessible to the general public. You'd pretty much have to know the seller to risk real money on a transaction that is even moderately likely to be caught and penalized. IMO dedicating a single GM to combing through logs and investigating RMT might be a good idea, if anyone was interested. And if it's a priority of the staff. At the end of the day, there's a reason people are still fighting tooth and nail for pixels after accumulating the best gear in game, and it's not because they love stockpiling plat.
