Partly untrue.

It is up to the FDA to regulate the substances available and provide proper information so that there is informed consent into accepting an opioid prescription AND ALSO for doctors to be able to make informed decisions regarding the prescribing of the medication. All of this falls on the FDA, not the manufacturer, not the doctor. The FDA has the burden first and foremost. The FDA has the ability to restrict application of medicines, and also has the ability to completely withdraw and sanction a medicine off of the market. Guess how many opioids have been withdrawn from the market for causing gross physical dependence? 0.

The problem is that by the FDA saying even just a little bad word about opioids or even placing a black box warning on them would cause massive amounts of cancer patients and legitimate pain patients to be denied medication on the basis of such. Its similar to admitting vaccine injury is a thing. By admitting to certain vaccine injuries, you put the medicine at risk. Opioids are the same situation. Exactly the same situation. Where controlling of the hysterical masses dictates what you are allowed to know. ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE HYSTERICS THAT IS PREVENTING THE FDA FROM DOING THEIR JOB? IF YOU COULD BE TRUSTED TO KEEP YER YAPP SHUT, MAYBE THE FDA WOULD HAVE TAKEN ACTION BY NOW. TRY STAYING QUIET THE ONLY WAY TO STOP A BAD GUY WITH A GUN IS A GOOD GUY WITH MORE GUNS

The manufacturers are not to blame. Its a product in a free market. We have a free market healthcare system. The FDA is demonstrating to everyone what free market really means. I'm very proud of them. 25 years of silence and running.

Cringing real hard at people who think warning people about prescription opioids falls on the DEA.

Good job giving a pass to the guys who actually control what drugs are available and dictate under what conditions moran. Its not a criminal matter. Its a regulatory matter. U kno an FDA thang dawg.

The DEA is currently overreaching (It has overreached quite a bit, basically exists just to overreach these days) and that should scare people because its a waste of taxpayer money and causes doctors needless headaches trying to explain to a fucking badge why they did X Y Z, while the DEA has no medical authority of any kind.

Who has medical authority again? OH yeah the FDA has the authority to dictate to doctors how medicine is used and the precise guidelines and standard of care for prescribing the medicine. They also have access to major medical studies to back up their decisions. They also dictate whether a BLACK BOX WARNING should be placed on the box of the medicine warning people of physical dependence, which a doctor is then required to read to the patient so together they can both make an informed decision.

Wish the DEA had all that power, o yeah I forgot its a LAW ENFORCEMENT BUREAU. BUT WHERE IS THE LAW AGAINST PRESCRIBING MEDICINE? real headscratcher yikes. smilin hard @ DEA wasting all your tax monies ha ha losers

Really though Tucker Carlson did a great expose` piece on this. It falls on the FDA to speak out on physical dependence and side effects and the doctors fall in line from there, especially if a black box warning is issued. Fox News has started to call them out, so maybe we're close to something getting done?

its REAL NEWS over there.

your average surgery op prescription is 6 weeks of opioids which is the FDA indicated amount known as "short-term".

nobody is surprised that 6 weeks of opioids can cause dependence

Good point but still. I'd prefer not to shit on our European allies while simultaneously doing dumb shit like selling the Saudis weapons and backing their blockade of Qatar

Feckless and dumb. Still not as bad as bush, but give this administration time and I suspect they'll get there
