Technically it was always cheaper to do it uninsured and not have medical insurance, for basically everything. With obamacare I was looking at 400$ a month premiums and still had to navigate dirty insurance companies ignoring the ACA provisions. Or go through an employer, where than it might have balanced out with out of pocket. << thats the responsible republican way, it works for privilaged folks in areas where they can work and aren't treated like animals.

Oh and in a few instances under medicaid and stuff, ppl getting their gender affirming medical care saved taxpayers major money because they paid it back and it didn't cost taxpayers in excess of 50,000$ to mop up the disaster of ppl in poverty doing drugs and commiting suicide.
