Came to defend Red in fear of this turning into a massive rants and flames thread. Alas, Swish is here to do it for us!

I was going to give a big speech about Red and how badass it is but enough people did it already that I'll just echo the important points.

- Make friends is #1. I have about 20 contacts on my friends list since joining. To the necros asking earlier about soloing. You certainly can but all the fun things in EQ are done in groups.

- Branching off of the above at a close 2nd is finding a Guild. <Fresh> was disbanded for the greater good and now there is <Thunderdome> (the leveling guild, also where my GG alts are) and of course <Good Guys> is the premiere guild to be in at 50+.

Held KC virtually all night last night. Lots of revenge was had.

Shoutout to all my Googs.

From 35 to 39 on cleric, and 9 to 15 on paladin yesterday. And wasted some time killing a dwarf. Really good day [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Why aren't you playing red yet?

Having a Red Awareness thread is like the Jehovah's Witness having an awareness campaign.

We know you exist, it's what you spend 90% of your time talking about. We just choose not to take part, because we are content where we are at now.

Not being twinked and not having a group in my back pocket means I can't do anything to stop those players if I play red either.

I have no interest in causing other players distress, so player killing is not something I want to do. Similarly, I have found no exhilaration when another player gets me killed.

If I played on a PvP server, it would be in spite of the PvP, not because of it. The reduced population is basically the only benefit I can see, a benefit the Red community seems hellbent on eliminating through this constant recruitment.
This is how I am playing red. Still you wind up caught up in it eventually. I know what real pvp should be like in an MMO that was designed for pvp because Daoc and eq pvp is horrible. I get no rush out of these fights. I have more fun trying to avoid pvp on this server it ads a bit of extra immersion and even offers some rp opportunities.

Also All of the pvp encounters I have had on this server I have been at a severe disadvantage and that's after the gear. Either at my bind point or engaged with mobs or zoning into an area as a lowbie in rags or outnumbered .

The players fault I say and these propaganda threads aren't going to improve the pop on this server.

It was a rhetorical question.

I know it is and it describes the climate of red so well. The use of homophobic and racial slurs was so rampant that people had to revert to using code to continue insulting each other with the least amount of class possible. If that isn't telling of the general population there, I'm not sure what is.

No way, I love global OOC!
If this is the case, we don't need any more players on Red... nothing to see here... move along [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Language is only as powerful as you're willing to let it be.

For me, being able to use actual expressive language without worrying about offending some dude who still thinks his mom will beat him for saying "fuck" is a big plus.
