Happens a few times a night, then goes away for a week before dropping off again.

If you want to prevent client shutdowns turn off all particle effects. Every time I got a client crash I would get a debug error such as "cannot create spel1a.tga for particle system".

I was crashing to desktop about 8-10 times a week until about 2 weeks ago. Installed eqplaynice (it's free just have to register) and only crashed to desktop once since. Tried the turning off particles before that and it didn't change anything was still dropping.

Never crashed until today. Earlier today I installed Windows 7. Crashed while killing a hill giant in NK within 10 minutes of logging on. Died.

Trying to re-install WinEQ2 but it's giving me a "DirectX9 required" error before it even gets into the main program so I need to figure that out first. For now, just running in XP SP2 compatability mode.

I've been using WinEQ2 for the past month or so and have not had any crashes. I thought I had a crash with it earlier, but I wasn't actually using the program, just running it in the background. This may be the fix.

So far since installing Wineq2, I haven't had a crash. I've only played for 1 full day though, so I guess we'll see what happens.

My crashes are always when my screen just goes completely black. I can't bring up the task manager or do anything. I just have to hard power down and start the system back up.

I installed WinEQ as advised on this forum and haven't had a crash with it since. Seems it somehow does the trick. I only started crashing after downing Windows 7's Service Pack.
