You should try the real world, where people don't have to plan a trip with their fellow lifeless weirdos over a video game. Where your friends aren't based on who the biggest no lifer is.

Meeting up and planning a vacation with your internet friends just shows how pathetic your real life must be.
Aww is someone in aftermath and has no RL or internet friends?

BDA Vegas was epic. 10/10. Would hang with elfpals again.

And don't be depressed Gorillas, or whoever you are behind your anon account. I am sure someone somewhere likes you enough to hang with you IRL. Don't give up hope lil man!

No, it's just hilarious to see a bunch of beta terds acting like going to Vegas with a bunch of other awkward nerds from an old EQ simulator....and then they act like its something to be envious of. Even more pathetic are the people saying OH MAN THAT SOUNDS SO COOL and you should meet your e friends!

Normal people don't go on trips with their Stockholm syndrome guildies from 15 year old elf sim. They go with their friends. Go tell a normal person that you're flying across the country to meet some dudes you stay up till 3 am fighting dragons with.

What is a normal person for you? If you mean people on average don't meet online friends irl, you're probably right, but people on average aren't arguing how people should live their lives in the RnF section on an elf sim forum. So you're not very normal either.

Is there a better way to make friends than through common interests?

This is 2016, not early 90s when the internet was something just nerds were using. Maybe not an emulator of a 17 year old game, but people meet all the time IRL with people they meet from online shit.

No stigma about internet relationships here. Have you ever been to Sodor? Theres more bloody trains than there are actually people. Good luck getting a one-nighter here, let alone any meaningful relationship.

I'll give you that it's a bit weird to fly out to meet up with people from in game, but BDA has been around for a long time. A lot of their players have probably been playing together for years.

So sure, it's weird, but personally I think it would be weirder to NOT consider the same e-friends you've been grinding with for 15-30 hours a week for years to be your friends. I wouldn't personally pay a lot of money to fly out and meet e-friends, but I'd probably drive a few hours.
