No bull sh!t I heard that Rogean Industries LLC was audited at the behest of Daybreak to make sure they were not violating the ToS and they found the company was indeed making money on P99 so Daybreak is putting the kibosh on the whole project.
Not even a partially accurate post.

Project 99 is a registered non-profit organization. It adheres to Massachusetts non-profit regulations. There are no profits.

Quote:
Yes. State law (which governs your nonprofit incorporation) and the IRS (which regulates your tax-exempt status) allow a nonprofit to pay reasonable salaries to officers, employees, or agents for services rendered to further the nonprofit corporation's tax-exempt purposes. Indeed, most nonprofits have staff.
Rogean can pay himself or employees a reasonable salary for furthering the non-profit agenda, but trust me, its nothing worth writing home about and its very restricted. Non-profit status isn't a big joke.

That aside, people simply do not donate to this project as much as everyone thinks.

I calculated what p99 would cost in development money against the volunteers here (industry rate) and none of these guys would get anything except a cheeseburger compared to the time they actually put into this project. That's why they are called volunteers. You could double the donations and it still wouldn't break even.

If this were an actual for-profit business, hypothetically, p99 bled money like crazy to the point it would have been shut down many years ago. p99 is "red". Deep red.

There's a lot of assumption and "hypotheticals" in that post ^^

The only area that p99 destroys agnarr is keeping the game relatively clean of griefers and hackers. Does it exist? Sure... but here's the difference... p99 moderates their servers.

If you spend time on a tlp server near krono farms you will run into cheaters that p99 would handle. Other than that agnarr is great. But this distinction is, quite literally, critcal.
The reason P99 bans hackers and RMT so aggressively is:

1) They need to. There is no instancing, so it make content impossible for most people to complete with RMTers blocking everthing.

2) They could. They had a few guys that knew how to spot boxers and exploiters that literally fly around checking up on people...pretty awesome. There wasn't some overpaid idiot 3 bosses above Rogean telling him he couldn't do it either. (anything like this is very bureaucratic to get started in a business...memmos, meetings, people's opinions, office politics...)

There was recently a wave of boxing bans and some other signs DBG has learned (maybe through p99) that boxers are costing them money. But even if they never do shit about all that...instancing on p99 would bring in way more people than it would lose.

I'm pretty sure they would want the server seperate from their others but also want

1) krono on it and
b) agents of change

Will it cost money to see this movie they are making about us? They should cast me as Mark Wahlberg.

I will request they have Tom Hardy represent me.

Tom Hardy > Marky Mark.
