Sweet Jesus what's what's your char name so I can make sure I'd rather camp than use you for porting?
(And I'm an old DaP'er from blue... this is nuts.)

There seems to be a need for a sliding scale here. A level 50 might very easily be able to drop 50 plat without a problem, but a level 10 is likely hard pressed to pull 10 plat out of their ass unless they’ve gotten very lucky with cracked staves.
Secondly, how big a problem is any of this? Does it really cause enough grief to make a rant/flame masked as a condescending “Friendly FYI!”?

10-15 pp is very fair, 25+ is quite generous. A level 50 with some plat will tip you well, if a level 10 gives you 3pp that is fine. Porters are banking hard on Green sever and it all adds up. There's no way most people in their 30s will be tipping 30 something plat every time they need a ride and they really shouldn't.
If you need a port make sure you get to the spire/circle or you are already on the way. Unfortunately many people not only lack basic courtesy on P99 they also have a lack of general communication skills as well as a tenuous command of the English language. Communicating clearly with where you are and where you want to go is a lot to ask lol

I am a professional porter on Teal. I will port you for any amount of money. If you ask me this is what I tell you “It’s usually 1p per level for rich people, whatever for everyone else.” If I can I will run to meet you places. I provide sow, binds, whatever buffs you need.
I will prioritize paid ports over free CR but once I’m done I’ll get you no charge. If you are a non-twinked lowbie and are nice I will port you to BB so you can play with your friends also for free. I can earn more or equivalent plat farming or camping stuff. I port because it’s fun and I make friends and I feel like I’m part of the community. I’m not going to set onerous rules or demand anything from my customers.

It is also OK for a porter to state their rates in their /ooc advertising message. If people don't like the rate offered, they can opt not to employ that porter. Quote:

We must not claim that it is greedy for porters to expect tips for ports because it is equally greedy for people to expect free ports. I'm not sure why people can't see that this is a reciprocal exchange.
"It just costs you mana." / "It just costs you time to run, wait for a boat, and run some more." Every player's time must be valued equally. And if another player saves/gains you time, you should compensate them.
