Hmm, Saltwater Seaweed no longer stacks? i only had 2 from a fishing frenzy last night but yeah it doesn't seem stackable as it got merged into a single item.

Confirmed. This is evil and cruel, but quite possibly legitimately classic.

There was much evil cruelty involved with classic smithing, most especially the cultural smithing, most of which seemed designed specifically to punish melee characters for attempting to do anything besides whack a mob in the face (or wherever.) This definitely fits Verant's repeated insistence on making many quests & tradeskills a royal pita for any class other than Druid.

I thought necro's were supposed to be getting some love.

Thise lifetap changes are nothing and splurt being unresistable does nothing for pvp.
